Climate Controlled vs. Non-climate Controlled
First thing I would like to tell you is that climate control does NOT mean that the facility is kept at 72 degrees with 50% humidity. Instead, the temperature varies with the seasons. Our Climate controlled buildings manage a typical temperature range of approximately 55 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit and help to maintain a humidity level of less than 65%. These conditions help to prevent mold and mildew, as well as assist in pest control.
Extreme temperatures and condensation can result in climatic calamities. Mold, mildew and insects thrive in high humidity and extreme temperature locations. Anyone storing for long periods of time will definitely want a climate controlled unit for most items. Those storing for a shorter time, climate control may still be needed if storing items such as:
* Family Heirlooms * Oil paintings and other art work
* Fine linens * Electronic and computer equipment
* Mattresses * Antique and leather furniture
* Books * Important papers and files
* VHS, records, CDs * Pianos and other sensitive musical equipment
* Photographs * Photography equipment
* Clothing * Crystal and fine china

A non-climate controlled storage is great for short term storage of many items and perfect for storing certain items long term. Non-climate controlled storage units are similar to a basement, garage, attic or shed. If what you are storing would usually be kept in these areas without a problem then non-climate is a great money saving storage option for these items.
